Residential Services

Everyone deserves a chance to live in the community. The goal of Our House, Inc. is to promote a high quality of life for individuals with developmental and other disabilities and to help them become productive members of the community. We accomplish this through our person centered service approach, which meets each individual's diverse needs and recognizes his or her human dignity, interests and goals.

We currently have 25 residences serving more than 80 residents in ten towns in Essex, Morris, Somerset and Union counties, including New Providence, Verona, Union, Westfield, Berkeley Heights, West Orange, Summit, Chatham, Basking Ridge, Millington and Maplewood. Our House, Inc. offers three different models of residential support and has more than 150 employees providing support for our residential services program. Our residents receive assistance from staff in living their everyday lives. Activities range from daily living skills to recreation activities to assisting with budgeting.

Our House, Inc. residential models include:

GROUP HOMES - Between four to six residents share a home and receive 24-hour staff support.

SUPERVISED APARTMENTS - Residents live with apartment mates and receive 24-hour support from staff. Based on their skills and abilities, residents may have up to eight hours of unsupervised time daily.

SUPPORTED LIVING PROGRAM - Residents live alone or with an apartment mate. On a weekly basis, staff provides each resident with varying amounts of support based on individual needs. Help is available through a 24-hour on-call service.
