Our House is opening a new 26,000-square-foot facility on Spring Street in New Providence, creating a space that will enhance programs, expand opportunities and strengthen support for the individuals served every day.
Designed with growth, accessibility and innovation in mind, the new location will provide a more dynamic environment for our Day Services while bringing administrative and program teams together under one roof. From expanded learning spaces and training kitchens to sensory rooms and on-site nursing support, the new facility represents an investment in the future of the Our House community.
Construction and renovation work are actively underway as Our House prepares for the move later this summer. Employees, participants, families and supporters have been eagerly following the progress as the organization transforms the space into a welcoming new home designed to support growth, learning and connection. A New Home Designed for Growth
The move to Spring Street marks an exciting new chapter for Our House. As our organization continues to grow, the need for a larger, more versatile space becomes increasingly important. The new facility will provide the room needed to enhance existing services while creating opportunities for new programming and experiences.
At 26,000 square feet, the building has been carefully designed to support the mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through meaningful programs, skill development and community engagement. Every aspect of the facility reflects a commitment to creating an environment where participants can learn, connect and thrive.
Safety has also been a key consideration in the design of the new location. Upon entering the building, visitors will pass through a dedicated vestibule equipped with secured entry points, helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who enters the facility.
Enhancing our Day Program Experience
One of the most exciting aspects of the new building is the significant expansion of program space. The additional square footage will allow participants to engage in a wider variety of activities while ensuring a comfortable and supportive setting throughout the day.
The new program areas have been designed to accommodate diverse learning styles, interests and support needs. Larger program rooms will provide greater flexibility for both individual and group activities, allowing participants to enjoy a more personalized experience.
A standout feature of the facility is the use of retractable partitions throughout one of the key program areas. This adaptable wall will allow us to divide the space into smaller learning environments or open it up to create larger gathering areas for events, celebrations and group activities. This flexibility will help ensure that programming can evolve alongside the needs of participants.
The expanded layout will also make it easier to host community events, special programs and collaborative activities that encourage social interaction and engagement.
Creating Opportunities for Independent Living Skills
Developing practical life skills has always been an important part of the Our House mission and the new facility will offer even more opportunities for participants to build confidence and independence.
Several fully functional training kitchens will be incorporated throughout the building. These kitchens are designed to replicate real-world home environments and will include:

Additional bathrooms will be located throughout the space, reducing the need for participants to leave activity areas and helping create a more convenient and accessible experience throughout the day.
The expanded layout will also include dedicated quiet rooms and sensory rooms. These specialized spaces are designed to provide supportive environments where participants can relax, self-regulate or take a break when needed.
Sensory-friendly spaces play an important role in many day programs serving adults with I/DD by helping them feel comfortable and supported while participating in daily activities. By incorporating these areas into the facility’s design, we can continue our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our served individuals.
The facility will also feature on-site nursing support, providing an additional layer of care and oversight. Having our nursing team available within the building helps ensure that participants have access to support when needed while promoting overall health and wellness.
Expanding Opportunities for Learning and Recreation

Expanding Signature Programs and Vocational Opportunities
The new Spring Street facility will also serve as home to several of Our House’s most impactful programs, creating expanded opportunities for participants to build skills, gain experience and work toward greater independence. The facility will house two Hope Autism Solutions (HAS), two Volunteer Action Programs (VAP) and a second SkillsUp Pre-Vocational Training Program, providing expanded opportunities for skill development, community engagement and vocational training. These Day Programs at the new Spring Street location are in addition to the programs currently being offered in Bridgewater and Woodbridge.
In addition, the Spring Street location will become home to a second SkillsUp Pre-Vocational Training Program, further expanding vocational training opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. SkillsUp helps participants develop workplace readiness skills through structured learning experiences focused on communication, responsibility, teamwork and job-related tasks. By introducing a second SkillsUp program, Our House will be able to serve more individuals while providing additional pathways for participants to explore vocational interests, strengthen employment skills and prepare for greater independence in their daily lives and future careers.
Together, the HAS, VAP and SkillsUp Programs reflect Our House’s ongoing commitment to offering diverse programs that empower individuals to learn, grow and thrive both within the program setting and throughout the community.
